COVID-19 Proves We Aren’t Ready For Aliens
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve had the time to write a blog, and I apologize to our readers who look forward to reading my thoughts.  Along with the situation we’re in now, with COVID-19, we are in scary times right now.  For me, I’m not so much scared of the virus, as I am about the way people are acting, especially when it comes to food, drinks, toilet paper, etc.   The disgust and treatment people are having towards one another is ridiculous at times.  We are not even in peril as a civilization and this is how we are treating each other.  Hoarding food, milk, wipes, sanitizer.  We’ve seen videos of people fighting and arguing in the aisles of grocery stores and Costco.  We are acting inhumane.  Look, I’m not saying people shouldn’t be aware of their surroundings or the health of their neighbours, but when it comes to the way we’re acting right now, it’s unconscionable.  Let’s also note that the majority of people out there are taking what they need.  They aren’t taking so the next person or senior can’t get theirs.  Ladies and gentlemen, there is plenty of food and supplies out there.  We are not in an apocalypse.  We are in a pandemic. People are sick.  People around the world are dying.  People are losing their jobs due to lack of work or sales.  People are going to suffer.  That being said, there is no reason why, when it comes to grocery shopping, that you should extend your needs beyond what is necessary.  You can blame the mainstream media, the government, whomever you want.  But the responsibility lies solely on you on how you act, and how much you take for yourself, which may put someone else in peril.  The selfishness is terrible right now.  We need to learn to be human again.
Now looking at this from the angle of ‘WOO’, this got me thinking.  If this is way people are acting over a virus pandemic, which is very serious and shouldn’t be taken lightly, I started wondering if this is a sign of what we’d see if aliens landed on earth?  I know.  I know.  How can I really compare the two considering we don’t ‘officially’ know if aliens are even here.  However, in the name of ‘WOO’, I am going there!  But it does have some serious connotations though, if the scenario did come true, and aliens did land, how are we as a society going to handle it?  As well, after watching how people have reacted with the corona virus, what are people going to hoard?  Mustard?  Flak seeds?  Metamucil?
Many times on Spaced Out Radio we have discussed openly with people and panels on if humankind is ready for aliens to arrive.  Watching the comments from guests, along with people who listen on in our chat rooms, there are always people stating people are ready for aliens.  People could handle it if extraterrestrials arrived on earth.  I have always thought for various reasons from religion to political beliefs, to doomsday preppers, that we aren’t even close to being ready for off world contact.
Look, there is no way to describe the lengths this current COVID-19 pandemic is going to go, yet.  It’s still widely out of control.  But I don’t know how else to put it?  I mean we think we’ve matured over time with society, yet the current situation leads me to believe when it comes to aliens, my prediction is right.  We are nowhere close to being ready.  And it’s not just food we’re hoarding.  Outdoor and gun stores are selling out of supplies, as people believe this could be the start of something long term, and they are ready to kill or harm anyone who tries to break in or come on their property.  This isn’t fear mongering.  This is our current reality.  If it’s extraterrestrials coming down, you can bet there’s going to be a number of armed people out there, ready to kill them aliens!
None of this is good.  This entire pandemic should be a learning experience for all of us.  It should be an understanding on how we treat people.  How we hoard.  How we are interacting and looking to place blame.  We need to be better.  We need to help.  We need to share.  We need to be there for one another as best we can.  If we can’t, we’re doomed.
And that includes the impending alien invasion!
