UFO’Real? A Historical Review
By William Pullin, UFO Historian
Greetings. Ted Phillips. There are a few special individuals who have devoted decades of time and effort to the search for answers to the UFO problem. Those same special individuals often make a difference in the lives of the people they come into contact with. Ted Phillips was one of those special people. A dogged UFO researcher whose speciality was physical trace cases, Phillips was the kind of researcher we all aspire to be; objective, dispassionate, and possessing of an unending amount of energy. His journey began in 1964, with the Socorro, New Mexico case, and continued through the majority of his life, a life well lived. In the process, he became close friends with Dr. J. Allen Hynek, who encouraged his attention to physical trace cases, and placed his trust in the quality investigative efforts that Phillips maintained. Phillips ended up examining over 600 UFO cases through the decades, and made presentations at numerous conferences, including the 1st International UFO Congress as well as the 1st MUFON Symposium. His contributions to the UFO field will never be forgotten, nor will his kindness and passion for the work. The image attached to this blog posting features Phillips (L) and my good friend Scott Santa, who had the privilege of meeting Phillips. Thank you.
